Today on BBC news online they report the flag of the Young Guard (Russian: Молодая гвардия, transliterated: Molodaya gvardiya) (which) is the youth wing of the United Russia party.(It was) founded in 2005, (and) uses the name of the Soviet Young Guard, a World War II Komsomol underground organization. A largely pro-Kremlin youth direct action group, it is often compared to Nashi, which was founded earlier in the same year. The Young Guard claims to have branches across Russia from the country's Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad oblast to Vladivostok on the Pacific. The Young Guard – like other Putin-era youth groups, Nashi ("Ours!") and Mestniye ("Locals"), is believed to have strong financial and administrative support from the government, Radio Free Europe reported on 20 July 2007.
